Placements

New York Icons follows an age appropriate method to the best of our ability. Exceptions are minimal, final, and at the discretion of Owners and Staff. If an athlete tumbles 2 levels above the level provided by Icons in their age group a serious consideration will be made based on the other areas of the score sheet if that athlete should move to the next highest level team available in the program. Age, maturity, experience and skill all play a role in team placements. We focus on whether an athlete can hit all the criteria of a particular level in order to maximize the team’s potential success. This means placing athletes on teams where they can hit more than one entry and elite level skill. Team announcements are made via personal phone calls from the coach, followed by a welcome email. Although teams are created in May, rosters are not finalized until July 1. We group athletes by potential; however, if any placement needs to be changed for the good of the team, it can be done at the Owners’ and Coaches’ discretion at any time prior to July 1. Please remember that when you sign up for New York Icons, you are signing up for our program, not for a particular level.
